Honorarium and Memorial Program
Gifts given in honor or in memory of friends or relatives are an on-going tribute at the Dothan Area Botanical Gardens. A gift to the Garden in honor of a loved one is a wonderful tribute for any occasion. Donations are fully tax deductible. For more information contact us at (334) 793-3224.
The Garden offers the following gift opportunities:
Trees - ( $1,000 ) With your gift, the DABG purchases a 3" caliper tree and a bronze tree marker with the verbiage of your choice. These trees are planted and maintained by the Gardens Staff and Volunteers. The trees are placed strategically to be timeless and magnificent shade areas in the years to come. Trees are available for a gift of $1,000 and make a grand tribute right away, becoming even more beautiful as they mature.
Garden Benches - ( $1,000 ) Scattered at picturesque venues throughout The Gardens are English benches made from teak. They are of classic design with smooth, rounded arms. A 2" x 6" placard is inscribed and placed across the back of each to give the benefactor's name to The Garden's visitor. Benches are available for $1,000 and will be maintained or replaced if ever necessary.
Shrubs - ( $300 ) Substantial shrubs are also an option for memorials or honorariums. These plantings are flora identified as important pieces for this botanical collection. Some are specimen (only one in The Gardens) and others are planned for developed areas. Should you have a specific request, the DABG Staff will work to find the exact one that meets your need. These established shrubs are marked by a tasteful placard in front of the plant and are $300 each.
Gifts of less than $300 are recognized, as is every memorial or honorarium, with a card to the donor and to the family of the namesake or gift. These gifts are considered non-restricted and go toward the general development of the Gardens.
Larger memorials are available to include specific needs or specified areas on the concept plan for The Gardens. To discuss this level of unique bequest, please contact The Gardens office.
We encourage you to think of the Dothan Area Botanical Gardens as a beautiful and permanent site for honoring the lives or memories of friends and family members.
