This is our ever growing album of Garden images. Check here often -- we're constantly adding something new.

APSO (Alabama Power Service Organization) volunteers completed the Boardwalk overlooking the Fern Garden in the Spring of 2005.  This year they constructed  the  60 foot pergola leading into the Wedding Garden and laid the pavers -- a backbreaking job.  The end product and is utterly breath-taking.

  The footings.           The finished product.

In Greek mythology there are nine sister goddesses presiding over song and poetry; and the arts and sciences.  JoAnn Bell Gregory and the Garden Study Club of Dothan presented the Gardens with its second seasonal muse, 'Winter', located in the Camellia Garden.

This seven-foot 'Summer' Muse stands guard over the Day Lily Garden.  The day lilies are presently being tagged by DABG volunteers.  Bricks for a walkway to meander this garden area are on site  and a beautiful sitting area for visitors to enjoy is also on the agenda.  The other seasonal muses (fall, winter and spring)  reside in the Camellia Garden, the Azalea Garden and the Ornamental Garden.

Persian Shield, melampodium and Angel Wing begonias and of course Knock-Out roses are blooming at the Front Gate.  .

The Wilson Windmill, for years a landmark on Highway 53, from Dothan to Cottonwood, was erected at the Gardens on April 30, 2002.  It is again a working windmill, pumping water in a small replica of an animal watering trough.  (Photo by Ruth Byram, DABG member).

The Bernice J. Dykes Memorial Garden sits under a Cherry Laurel tree across from the Gregory Garden.   'Heirloom Garden' plantings along the walkway up to the DABG Office.

The Michelin Pond is the central focal point at the Gardens.  It is full of Koi fish which are brightly colored and several feet long.  You can frequently find their shadowy figures swimming along the edges of the pond waiting to be fed.

A bricked staging area close at the Visitors' Tent has been provided for easier access to the Garden's paved pathway. It is surprising how many mothers frequent the gardens every week pushing their children in strollers.  There are  also many individuals confined to wheelchairs that visit the Gardens.  Hopefully this new area will make  visiting the Gardens more pleasant for many of our patrons. I

The Herb Garden is being overhauled.  Four separate areas in raised beds along the way to the Wedding Garden, this garden features culinary, ornamental, fragrant and medicinal herbs.

The Rose Garden is in full bloom.  Lovingly tended by the Wiregrass Rose Society, it has recently been restocked and smells just as beautiful as it looks.

The Fall Muse is over-seeing our progress in this area which will showcase ornamental shrubs such as viburnums, spireas, ornamental grasses, fothergilla and tea olive.  New plants are being added to showcase specimens that do well in our tough S.E. Alabama growing conditions.

The Butterfly Garden is a favorite spot for adults and children alike.  It is always full of flowers -- and butterflies.  With the onset of winter we won't see as much color but many will still continue to enjoy the site.

The Gregory Garden is often used by individuals seeking a rest or meditative moment.  It is adjacent to the Michelin Pond.

The Dothan Area Botanical Gardens exists and progresses with the generous gifts and donations given by new members, renewing members and the graciousness of organizations in our surrounding area.  We want to thank you for all your support as we strive to make the Gardens the exceptional place it can be.
